"Together, we rise" by Carla

Feeling accepted doesn't have to be difficult. I wish we as a society could see how damaging some of our words are. Horrendous words like "cripple, ugly, deformed" and yes, even extremely derogatory words like "faggot, dyke, homo," should be wiped out of society forever!
These words are so damaging to the people who just want to "fit in," with the status quo.
Why should we women, for example, be deemed more "pretty" if we have more make-up on, for example? What about those women who don't want to wear make up? I'm not ashamed to say I'm one of them. And don't even get me started about the rise of Botox.
To the people who do try Botox, you do you. But equally you're perfect just as you are!
Equally, for men, why should you be called "pretty boy" and other rude words when it's purposely directed as an insult. It's unacceptable! The only words that should come out of our mouths should be kind words.
After all, the age old quote by Dr. Seuss still speaks to me, "why 'fit in' when you were born to stand out?"
Whether it's adding more make-up to my face, a bow to my hair, I ask you, why do I have to change anything about myself to be thought of as gorgeous?
It’s only through excepting each other as we are, can we change the world for the better.
I put another post up like this but hey, I wanted to reiterate it.
Be the acceptance we wish to see in the world. Please think how our words and behaviours effect each other before we speak. When we speak in kindness, we rise.
That's simply all I ask,
From Carla.
